Derry Police make Arrest for Computer Crimes

On October 15, 2015, Derry Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at 124 Chases Grove, Derry, New Hampshire. This search was related to an on-going investigation involving the illegal use of computers and alleged possession of images of child sexual abuse at that address. The investigation was worked in conjunction with the Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Force of which the Derry Police Department is a member.

During the search, the Derry Police seized digital devices. Computer forensic examinations were conducted on these devices. As a result of this investigation, the following individual was arrested on a Derry Police warrant on October 23, 2015.

Mr. Rettig is currently charged with:

–   5 counts Attempted Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Images

–   Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Images

–   Solicitation to Manufacture of Child Sexual Abuse Images

–  Certain Uses of Computer Services Prohibited

–  Endangering the Welfare of Child or Incompetent

– Indecent Exposure and Lewdness

These charges include 7 Class A Felonies, 2 Class B Felonies and one Misdemeanor. The alleged victims in these crimes range in age from 11 years old to 22 years old. It is alleged that some of these crimes were perpetrated using the computer applications “KIK” and “Snapchat”.

Mr. Rettig’s bail was set at $5,000.00 cash bail.  On October 26, 2015 Mr. Retig was arraigned before the 10th Circuit Court – Derry District. His bail remains at $5,000.00 cash or surety.  Rettig is being held at the Rockingham County House of Correction. He is scheduled to appear before the 10th Circuit Court – Derry District on November 5, 2015 at 12:45 PM for a Probable Cause hearing.
